UNIVERSAL ACCESS TO MEDICINES |
In 2018, our work on access to medicines went hand in hand with our actions as part of the No Es Sano campaign, which we promoted and which brings together more than 30 organisations. It was expanded beyond regional level and was marked by a theme which already forms part of the national agenda: transparency. Thanks to our work, since last year the Ministry has published data on the approval and financing of pharmaceuticals, including those in the health system. Also in 2018, we analysed R&D process for four very specific, innovative cancer therapies, providing evidence of the huge investment of public funds in their development. An investment that becomes invisible when the technology is transferred to the pharmaceutical industry, leaving the State without the capacity to influence important decisions such as price or the management of the intellectual property.
